Roots: Collagraphs
A collagraph is a print made from collaged elements attached to a base plate. These collagraphs were printed using an intaglio method in which the incised or lower surface prints. The process results in highly textured prints.
Genetic Roots, Sustenance Roots and Religious Roots continue the themes of the Root Bound series. In the collagraphs the focus is on the roots or source for each of these institutions. The architectural symbols are miniscule compared to the expansive amount of earth and the vigorous activity of the roots filling the space beneath them.
